I have been a bit obsessed with embroidery, when I have the time to do it. This is a pattern from Elsie's shop Red Velvet Art Grand Opening, I believe it is sold out. I was just totally creative, painted on the fabric first, then embroidered. I have no idea what will happen next, it might end up on a scrapbook page or on an art journal page.
Here are my latest finds from antique co-ops in Webster and Greece, NY. Everything is vintage except the turquoise plume. I think I need to stay out of the stores for a bit!
How are you spending your Saturday? I'm getting ready for my parents to come visit next week!

Oh, wow... I love your embroidered unicorn! And what fabulous vintage finds! Have a great weekend :)
JA, I love your unicorn! and your blog. The colors are so fresh and delish. Eye candy :)
Thank you for your sweet, kind words.
Hugs.
So fun and bright and cheery! Great colors on your unicorn Julie Ann. Such great vintage finds. Are they great to have around for future ideas? I'm such a collector. The hunt is so much fun. I enjoyed scrolling down and seeing your altered books especially your Bad Girls Project 52 Challenge #2! I really want to embroider. It's on my list of things to learn

Oh I just love this embroidery you're doing..brings back childhood memories; and how magical...unicorns! I love the textures and mix of colors. Your blog is a breath of fresh, colorful air! -- As for my Saturday, I'm enjoying this warm November day. It's Nov. 7th and 70 degrees here, Chicago. And, the glorious changing colors of the trees adds to the wonderment of it all.
Lots of great finds. I know what you mean about staying out of the stores...such good stuff out there. Wonderful to find a
unicorn.
Love the texture! I have so much fun looking in odd places for art supplies and inspiration, too.
I think the combination of painting and embroidery is brilliant! Have you heard of cornify.com? It is unicorn friendly and cute! I always wanted to learn embroidery...your work inspires me to actually follow thru in that desire and I thank you!
Ooh, did you go to that one on W. Ridge Road near Lowe's? I drive by it all the time and never go in. I really must one of these days.
And super work with the embroidery. You amaze me!
Sounds like an awesome shop!!
I can spend hours looking at old things....
And I don't mean in my mirror either LOL
Love your Blog JA- Keep making art
Your work is so adorable...beautiful work and love the colors!
I love that game spinner! So retro-cute!
And the same for the unicorn & the fabric it's on... I can't wait to see how you use it... ^_^
Wow, that is so beautiful! I love how you have painted on the fabric first than embroided. That's very imaginative and pretty. I feel like an embroidery moment coming along too. Happy Every Day Month Creating.
