Log Your Memory Challenges

Log Your Memory.com Logbook Challenge #6
Special Relationships
Journaling:
Being 4 years apart, it was tough for my sister and I to see eye-to-eye growing up.. We made peace many years ago, as adults, and now I’m proud to say we are friends. I really couldn’t imagine life without a sister or the unique friend that she is. I cherish our bond now so much.

Log Your Memory.com Challenge #7 What Do You Love About Your Everyday Life?
I asked my Facebook friends what they love about their everyday life, and recorded their answers here.

This layout was inspired by Nancy Damiano's layout

LYM Challenge 8
I Can't Get Enough!

Journaling:
The object of my affection is The Beach! I absolutely love taking vacations to beach locations, not to mention that we live at the beach too. It's the sun, the water, the sky...it's all beautiful and I love it!

Scrap Someone Or Something Special This Month of Love

As seen on the Log Your Memory blog, 2/8/11

Right now, in my quest to explore my One Little Word for 2011 (Fabulous), I am reading Fabulous Friendship Festival: Loving Wildly, Learning Deeply, Living Fully with Our Friends by Sark.
Julie Ann Shahin, Challenge Team Member
Julie Ann Shahin Challenge Team
I just finished reading Chapter Two yesterday, which explores Kinds Of Friendships, which is kind of what this week’s theme is all about here at Log Your Memory.

Sark breaks it down into: Old Friends, Instant Friends, Neighbor Friends, Animal Friends, Email and Online Friends, Phone Friends, Sibling Friends, Male/Female Friends, Former Lover Friendships, Elder Friendships, Books as Friends, Imaginary Friends (includes Famous People Living or Deceased You Wish You Were Friends With), and Being Friends with a Child.

Here are a few notes I journaled in my Memory Logbook after reading Sark’s chapter on the Kinds Of Friendships:
  • Old Friends: What keeps these kind of connections strong through the years, in my opinion, is staying in touch every so often. Nurturing the friendship. Mutual respect and  trust.
  • Instant Friends: What opens the way for immediate intimacy is a synchronicity between two people.
  • Phone Friends: I do not enjoy phone friends as I’ve never had good experiences via the phone. I hardly use my phone and I don’t even have a cell phone.
  • Email/Online Friends: This is my favorite way to maintain and build friendships as I’m online all the time, and it works for me. I suffered before I had a computer, and now I have many networks and supportive friends through email, messageboards, Facebook, etc.
  • Imaginary Friends: If I could invite to dinner anyone in the world, I think I might invite my old friend D.M. whom I’ve lost track of, Oprah (T.V. personality), Chelsea Handler (T.V. personality) , Marianne Williamson (author), Ali Edwards (scrapbooker and author), Natalie Portman (actress), Michelle Obama (1st Lady), and the Dalia Lama (spiritual leader).
This week’s prompt to tell the story of a special relationship using photos and words could define any of the friendships outlined in Sark’s book, or you could choose to tell about one of your favorite somethings, whether it be a child’s toy, a favorite food, song of the week, favorite piece of clothing, etc.

Kick It Up A Notch

  1. Go further and journal about why you chose it above something else or someone else.
  2. Why is this relationship special?
  3. When did the relationship start?
  4. How did the relationship begin – was it a gift? Or in the case of a person, were you introduced or how did you meet?
  5. Did you initiate the relationship? Or did you purchase the item as a splurge?
  6. What is the object of your affection? What is it all about? What is its/her/his history?
Here are a gathering of layouts that are wonderful illustrations of this theme…

Log Your Memory Challenges

I'm behind in sharing my Log Your Memory Challenges. Here are my Week 3, 4, and 5 layouts. I am loving these challenges!

Dreaming Of Australia
I Want to Go to There
LYM Challenge #3 Dreams

Journaling: For the past 18 years, I have dreamt of traveling to Australia one day. When I dream of it, I dream of golden colors. It all began when one of my college roommates took a trip abroad to Australia with our University to study for the summer as they traveled across the country. A few years later, she moved to Sydney with her husband to work in landscape architecture. While they have since moved back to the States, I still dream of one day seeing the Sydney Opera House, the beautiful beaches, and landscapes., and perhaps even a few Aussie scrapbooking friends. I dream of the Land Down Under, and I want to go to there. 2011

Inspired by the Project: Me ladies, I decided to do this based on a blog post I did at OneWord.org, they have homework assignments for you to do on your word of the year. My journaling is an answer to the question:
QUESTION #1: Take a few moments and journal about the type of person you want to be at the end of 2011. How would you want this person to be described? What are some characteristics that would define this person? For those who have already chosen your One Word, what effect do you hope this word will have on your character? How will you have to posture yourself to make that change a reality?

Journaling:
I want to be fabulous, sexy, independent, poetic, whimsical, amazing, awe-inspiring, imaginative, cool, phenomenal, wondrous, wild, rare. I want to be affectionate, caring, embracing, cheerful, thoughtful, courageous, devoted, faithful, forgiving, involved, self-confident, dynamic, fatigue free, graceful, idea driven, living from the depths of life, personable, spiritual, strong, resourceful, curious, friendly, gratitude, joyful, loving, adventurous, desirous, willing, I want this word to have the effect on my character that I get out more and live, that I am more self-giving, that I am less depressed. It will take personal effort to make this a reality.

Challenge #5 - Happily Ever After

Journaling:
Once upon a time, a Prince and a Princess lived in a castle all alone. The Princess wanted more than anything to add the companionship of a tiny, little dog to their family. "Bah humbug," said the Prince. "Dogs are a bother. I like other people's dogs." But the Princess kept on dreaming of a pet of her own, wishing to adopt a rescued animal. She began searching online. But meanwhile, the Prince whisked her away on a romantical vacation, and asked her to resume looking when they return. Once home again, the Princess wanted more than ever a dog to love. The Prince was hesitant. Then one day, she found online an adorable bichon frise, and without telling the Prince, she applied to be the owner. When she heard the news her application was accepted, she was over the moon. Now she had to tell the Prince her secret. The Prince didn't know what to think. "Well, if I don't like the dog, it's going back." "Just open your heart," said the Princess. The day came when the dog was brought to the castle, and the Princess' eyes glowed with joy. The Prince knew right then looking at her the dog could stay. And, day after day, the Princes' heart opened, and opened, and opened, until he, too, was attached. The Prince, Princess, and their dog are now living happily ever after! Story 2010 Journaled 2011

Log Your Memory 2011 Challenge #1

This is for the Log Your Memory.com LogBook Challenge #1 for 2011

I used the list from the Logbook for the "Annual Checkup" (my word for 2011 is "fabulous")

Journaling:
One year from today, I hope to have learned how to better my writing style. One year from today, I hope to have figured out how to be fabulous every second of the day. One year from today, I hope to have completed a year of daily yoga. One year from today, I hope to have stopped my internet addiction. One year from today, I hope to have started healing my fibromyalgia. One year from today, I hope to have acquired a sense of gratefulness for the little things. One year from today, I hope to have given up anything that is not fabulous. One year from today, I hope to have visited at least one really fabulous beach. One year from today, I hope to have left behind any and all baggage from my thirties as I finish my first year of being forty. January 2011

Get Your 2011 Memory Logbooks Ready!!! Plus Coupon Code

Copied from the Log Your Memory Memory Minder newsletter: (I will not be posting Memory Minder emails, just this once, as you have to buy a LYM Logbook to received the Memory Minder emails).

We're gearing up for a great 2011!

January 1st is just a few days away (this Saturday!) and we'll officially get underway with our 2011 Memory Logbooks and this service soon after. In the meantime, I'd like to give you an idea of what you can expect from your Memory Minder, as well as provide a few tips to help you get ready for a great year of memory-keeping with your Logbook!

What you can expect from your Minder Minder service ...

Your Memory Minder subscription was designed to provide you with three significant benefits ...
1) to make it super easy to access your Memory Logbook's Weekly Challenge content,
2) to help you figure out how to make the Memory Logbook really work for YOU, and
3) to help remind you to USE your Memory Logbook and all of the features and benefits that go along with it!

To do this, your Memory Minder emails will ...
--> Arrive in your inbox first thing every Monday morning (Mountain Time), just in time for that week's Weekly Challenge, as well as occasionally during the week when there is reason for a little extra help, reminding or sharing!
--> Include the full content for the current Weekly Challenge, including the sample layout shown in your Memory Logbook, as well as the challenge itself and any variations or extensions provided.
--> Remind you of any chats or other activities planned that week in relation to the Weekly Challenge.
--> Give you a peek at several additional layouts created by the Log Your Memory Challenge Team to give you further inspiration for the Weekly Challenge.
--> Provide additional ideas, resources and inspiration for the Weekly Challenge beyond what is included in your Memory Logbook.
--> Occasionally alert you to special offers, sales and other opportunities related to current as well as future editions of the Memory Logbook.
--> Very likely evolve and change over the course of the year as we figure out what works best ... feel free to provide feedback at any time!

Getting ready to use your 2011 Memory Logbook ...

A little advance preparation can help you start your memory-keeping year off on the right foot! A few tips and ideas to help get the process started...
  • If you purchased a downloadable logbook, now is the time to get it printed out. If doing the entire book seems overwhelming, consider printing just the first 3 or 4 months.
  • Double-check that your email spam blockers are set so that your Memory Minder emails will come through without problem.
  • There's strength in numbers!! Do you have a friend or family member who might like to join you in your memory-keeping this year? Tell them about the Memory Logbook!! (You can even share this coupon code to help get them started with a 10% discount on any 2011 Memory Logbook product: MEMORYFRIEND10, expires 1/10/2011)

See you next Monday ... and have a very Happy New Year!

Introducing the 2011 January to June Log Your Memory Team!!!!

Last Christmas I asked for and received the 2010 Memory Logbook as a gift. It's a very cool book "all about capturing your everyday, real life memories." If you know me at all, you know that I am not a chronological scrapper, yet I scrap what inspires me in the moment - the ordinary magic of everyday. One of the best examples of this was my time spent on the design team for the DigiDares. So when I saw the call for the Challenge Team for Log Your Memory, I jumped at the chance and was thrilled to be accepted!!!!

This talented group of real life memory-keepers is gearing up to provide a ton of inspiration and encouragement during the first half of 2011 … look for lots of activity from these ladies on our site in the near future, including our challenge gallery, on the blog, during our Weekly Challenge Chats, in our newsletter and more!"
